Cristina Alesci is a business and political correspondent for Cable Network News (CNN). Known for her in-depth coverage of financial markets, economic policy, and campaigns, Alesci has been featured on Anderson Cooper 360, The Lead with Jake Tapper, The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, Erin Burnett’s Out Front and Newsroom.
Alesci delivers original reporting and analysis on breaking financial and economic news and trends, including U.S. public companies’ response to COVID-19, the Black Lives Matter movement and the constantly shifting White House economic, trade and social policies, as well as former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s 2020 presidential campaign. Alesci’s background covering the financial industry for over a decade helped her elevate stories on the inner workings of the Administration, including its decision to impose tariffs on China and form outside business councils.
Alesci joined CNN from Bloomberg Television where she broke news on some of the biggest deals of the decade, including Facebook's initial public offering, the buyout of Neiman Marcus and the fight to take Dell private.
She received an M.A. in Journalism with honors from The City University of New York's Graduate School of Journalism, a B.S. in Criminal Justice (magna cum laude) from Pace University, and a post-baccalaureate certificate in business from Columbia University. She serves on the board of Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY and serves as an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, hosting of five of its major events and raising awareness about Type 1 Diabetes.
