Quarterback, Atlanta Falcons
This first round draft pick and three-time Pro Bowl selection burst onto the scene in 2008 and continues to make a name for himself on the field as the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.
In Matt Ryan’s rookie season he was named the NFL AP and PFWA Offensive Rookie of the Year and awarded the ESPY for Best Breakthrough Athlete and ESPN the Magazine’s Next Athlete Award. He was the first rookie quarterback to start all 16 regular-season games and make the playoffs and one of few quarterbacks to throw a touchdown on first NFL pass.
For the franchise, Ryan currently holds the career all-time records for pass attempts, pass completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns. In 2012, Ryan was named the NFL MVP. He has led the Falcons to four postseason appearances.
Prior to his time in the NFL, Ryan was Boston College’s starting quarterback from 2005 to 2007. He led them to three bowl victories and a 25-7 record in 32 starts. This All-American threw for 200 or more yards 15 times and is fifth all-time in school history in passing yards and in pass completions.
