Alyssa Farah Griffin has spent her career in senior roles in government, media, and American politics. She is currently a co-host of ABC’s The View and a CNN Political Contributor.
From March 2020 - December 2020, Farah Griffin served as White House Communications Director and Assistant to the President under President Donald J. Trump. During her tenure she oversaw the messaging strategy around Operation Warp Speed, the private-public partnership to get a COVID-19 vaccine to market in record time, and the confirmation of a Supreme Court Justice.
Previously, Farah Griffin worked as the Press Secretary for the Department of Defense and Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense. She was the youngest person in history to serve as the top spokesperson for the Pentagon. During her tenure, she was the primary traveling spokesperson for the Secretary of Defense and accompanied him on key foreign travel including an unannounced visit to Afghanistan to announce peace talks between the Afghan Government and the Taliban. Additionally, she oversaw all communications for the Pentagon and worked in coordination with the global Combat Commands and U.S. military presences across the globe. She also advised the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley on communications matters and preparation for testimony on Capitol Hill.
Prior to her time at the Pentagon, Farah Griffin served as Press Secretary for Vice President Mike Pence from 2017 to 2019, accompanying him on numerous international trips including to the Munich Security Conference and ASEAN Summit, where she served as part of the official U.S. Diplomatic Delegations. She was the Vice President’s primary on-the-record spokesperson and liaison to the national media.
Farah Griffin is the only person to have served as the top spokesperson to the President, Vice President, and Secretary of Defense in one Administration. Before her time in the Trump Administration, Farah Griffin was a senior communications aide on Capitol Hill, advising Republican members of Congress on key legislative battles from 2013 to 2017. Farah Griffin is of Lebanese and Syrian descent and is passionate about advancing women in political leadership.
Farah Griffin currently serves on the board of the American Conservation Coalition and as a movement partner with A Starting Point. In the Spring of 2022, Farah Griffin was announced as a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Politics and Public Service and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University. In the same year, she was named a National Security Fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.
