Biography

Bobbie Thomas is a rare breed of talent with her own style, flair, and modern-age philosophy centered on the belief that “You can be sexy and smart.” Equal parts expert and everywoman, she has created a one-of-kind niche in the style sphere as a “professional girlfriend,” eager to share her years of industry experience with all, and encouraging the use of fashion & beauty as tools to help the outside match the inside.

Currently, millions of people wake up to catch Bobbie on NBC’s TODAY Show, where she serves as Style Editor. Beyond the TV screen, Bobbie connects with viewers on her TODAY.com webpage, and off set she interacts with tens of thousands via Twitter, Facebook and Bobbie.com.

One of the few style experts out there who has truly done it all, Bobbie began her career as a rape crisis counselor, cementing her belief that “beauty truly comes from the strength within.” Eager to inspire others, Bobbie sought a platform to encourage self-esteem and confidence in the best way she knew how, a fusion of fun, fashion & friendship. She began reaching out to young women as advice columnist and West Coast Editor for top-selling teen magazines J-14 and Twist, and then to women nationwide with her column “The Buzz” in In Touch Weekly.

Bobbie’s “Buzz” spread quickly, from FOX & CNN to MTV, the ladies of The View and the boys of The Best Damn Sports Show Period, her tips, finds and Hollywood secrets resonated with a wide audience. As a recurring correspondent and guest on a variety of E! Entertainment specials including red-carpet Emmy, Golden Globe and Academy Awards coverage, as well as co-hosting the Style Network’s Fashion Police, viewers looked to Bobbie to translate trends and transform the way they see style.

In 2013, Bobbie wrote her first book, The Power of Style: Everything You Need to Know Before You Get Dressed Tomorrow. Released by HarperOne Publishing, this thoughtful and inspiring guide provides the information Bobbie’s fans have come to expect to feel stylish, smart, sexy, and satisfied.

Bobbie has also been working closely with the United Nations Foundation as an ambassador for their Girl Up and Universal Access Project campaigns. She recently moderated a panel (featuring Brandy, Tina Wells, and Laura Turner Seydel) on empowering young women from the inside out - a topic she is extremely passionate about.

Whether she’s speaking to a television audience, showcasing DIY projects online or simply giving a makeover to a friend, Bobbie works tirelessly to use her voice to help people feel good about themselves. By making fashion accessible and beauty attainable, Bobbie is not only a consummate curator for women, but an unparalleled spokeswoman for female empowerment.
