Biography
Jeremy McCarter is a writer and producer. He is the co-author, with Lin-Manuel Miranda, of two New York Times bestsellers, Hamilton: The Revolution and In the Heights: Finding Home (also with Quiara Alegría Hudes). He is also the author of Young Radicals, a nonfiction account of American idealists fighting for their ideals, which The Wall Street Journal called “brilliant, even inspiring” and Library Journal called “engaging, moving, laugh-out-loud funny.”
He is the founder and executive producer of Make-Believe Association, a Chicago-based nonprofit that has been hailed as “a thrilling storytelling force” (Indiewire) that “reaches across Chicago’s cultural divides” (The New York Times). Most recently, he co-created and produced Lake Song, the company’s acclaimed audio-drama podcast series (Official Selection, Tribeca Festival 2022).
He spent five years on the artistic staff of the Public Theater, where he created and led the Public Forum series of performances and conversations. He served on the jury of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and participated in the inaugural Obama Foundation Summit of civic leaders.
He has written about culture and politics for New York Magazine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other publications.
