Matt Bomer is one of Hollywood’s most exciting actors working today.
After receiving a BFA Degree from Carnegie Mellon University, Bomer moved to New York, where he worked on such acclaimed productions as Spring Awakening and Grey Gardens. He also starred as “Ernest Hemingway” in Villa America at the Williamstown Theater Festival.
Soon after, he got the lead role on the ABC series Traveler, produced by Academy Award-winners Bruce Cohen and Dan Jinks. He had recurring roles on the Fox series Tru Calling and on the NBC series Chuck before landing the role of “Neal Caffrey” on USA Network’s White Collar. The show, which was one of the highest-rated and most critically acclaimed scripted shows on cable television, aired for six seasons. He has also guest-starred on the hit Fox series Glee and on the NBC series The New Normal.
Matt starred alongside Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts, and Jim Parsons in the critically acclaimed screen adaptation of The Normal Heart for director Ryan Murphy. For the film, which is based on the Tony Award-winning stage drama of the same name, Matt won a Golden Globe Award and a Critics’ Choice Award, and he received an Emmy Award nomination.
Matt’s additional television credits include the critically acclaimed FX series American Horror Story: Hotel, in which he starred alongside Kathy Bates and Lady Gaga, and Amazon’s The Last Tycoon, alongside Lily Collins, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Kelsey Grammer for director Billy Ray.
Matt starred as the lead in season 3 of USA Network’s thriller drama series The Sinner opposite Bill Pullman and executive produced by Jessica Biel. He was also seen in two episodes of the final season of NBC’s hit sitcom Will & Grace.
Matt appeared in the American Horror Stories, the spinoff anthology series to the American Horror Story franchise, as well as the Netflix psychological thriller limited series Echoes with Michelle Monaghan.
Matt was seen starring in and executive producing Showtime’s adaptation of Thomas Mallon’s novel Fellow Travelers alongside Jonathan Bailey. The limited series chronicled the clandestine romance of two very different men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington. For his role of “Hawkins ‘Hawk’ Fuller,” Matt received nominations from the Golden Globe Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Bomer was also nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category at the Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition to this role, Matt also finished his four-season run starring as “Larry Trainor” / “Negative Man” in HBO Max’s Doom Patrol.
Most recently, Matt was seen starring in and executive producing the comedy series Mid-Century Modern for Hulu alongside Nathan Lane and Linda Lavin.
In 2018, Matt made his directorial debut with a critically acclaimed episode of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
In addition to Matt’s success on the small screen, audiences have seen him star in a variety of feature film roles.
Matt’s feature film credits include a starring role in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Flight Plan with Jodie Foster, Andrew Niccol’s In Time alongside Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried, and the sci-fi dramedy Space Station 76 with Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson.
He reteamed with Channing Tatum in Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to the blockbuster film Magic Mike, in which he starred with Tatum and Matthew McConaughey for director Steven Soderbergh.
Matt starred opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in the action drama The Nice Guys for director Shane Black. He also appeared in Antoine Fuqua’s feature The Magnificent Seven. Matt also starred in Walking Out for directors Alex Smith and Andrew J. Smith, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
Matt was seen in YouTube’s first original film, Viper Club, alongside Susan Sarandon and Edie Falco, and John Butler’s Papi Chulo.
He was also seen in Maestro alongside Carey Mulligan and Bradley Cooper, produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Matt will be seen in the dark comedy Outcome for Apple TV+ alongside Jonah Hill, Keanu Reeves, and Cameron Diaz. Co-written and directed by Hill.
Matt appeared on stage in the Broadway revival of The Boys in the Band. The show opened at the Booth Theatre to sold-out audiences and critical acclaim, which included winning the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.
Matt reprised his role as “Donald,” along with the rest of the Broadway cast, in the Netflix film adaptation.
Matt’s other stage credits include the Broadway and Los Angeles readings of Dustin Lance Black’s play 8, where he was joined by such acting luminaries as Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John C. Reilly, and Ellen Barkin.
