Michael Donilon served as the Senior Advisor to President Biden in the White House and as Chief Strategist in both the 2020 and 2024 Biden for President campaigns.
In the White House, Donilon served as President Biden’s principal political advisor. He also provided advice to the President on a wide range of issues, both foreign and domestic. Donilon was responsible for overseeing all of the President’s speeches and public remarks and for leading the writing on all of the President’s major addresses. These included: The Inaugural Address, the State of the Union Addresses, the series of speeches on Democracy, including at the US Capitol on the one-year anniversary of January 6th, at Independence Hall, Union Station, the McCain Library, and Valley Forge. Donilon also played a principal role in writing the President’s foreign policy addresses, including President Biden’s two speeches in Warsaw on the Ukraine War, his speech at Pointe Du Hoc, and all his Oval Office addresses, including his Farewell Address.
Donilon has worked at the highest level of national politics for over 40 years as a pollster, media advisor, speechwriter, and strategist.
He’s worked in 8 Presidential campaigns, most recently as Chief Strategist for the Biden for President campaigns, where he was responsible for overseeing strategy, message development, television advertising, polling, and speechwriting.
