Biography

Former Navy SEAL and Author Jack Carr served in Naval Special Warfare from 1997-2016 with seven overseas deployments including stops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Philippines. He has led special operations teams as a Team Leader, Platoon Commander, Troop Commander, Task Unit Commander, Operations Officer, and Executive Officer. His first novel, The Terminal List, is a political/military thriller about a Navy SEAL and his attempt at avenging the deaths of his teammates and family, which he discovers the U.S. government is behind. Its success spawned the sequel, True Believer, and his latest novel in the series: Savage Son. The Terminal List was also adapted into a show for Amazon Prime, starring Chris Pratt and Constance Wu.

A sought-after consultant in the outdoor and tactical industries, Carr speaks regularly on leadership and team building to businesses across industries. Over his 20 years in Naval Special Warfare he transitioned from an enlisted SEAL sniper specializing in communications and intelligence to a junior officer leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was then a platoon commander practicing counterinsurgency in the southern Philippines and commanded a Special Operations Task Unit in the most Iranian-influenced section of southern Iraq throughout the tumultuous drawdown of U.S. Forces.

Brad Thor, #1 bestselling author and ‘Master of Thrillers’ praised The Terminal List as “So powerful, so pulse-pounding, so well-written – rarely do you read a debut novel this damn good.”

Carr serves on the board of directors of Valor for Life, a non-profit organization providing military veterans with no-cost surgical spine care.

He retired from active duty in 2016 and lives with his wife and three children in Park City, Utah.

Lessons In Leadership & Team Building From A Navy Sealarrow-down

Former Navy SEAL Jack Carr served in Naval Special Warfare for nearly twenty years. With seven overseas deployments including stops in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Philippines, he led special operations teams as a Team Leader, Platoon Commander, Troop Commander, Task Unit Commander, Operations Officer and Executive Officer.

In this talk, Carr brings audiences deep inside the life of a Navy SEAL, from the rigorous training regimen and day-to-day tasks of a SEAL, to his work in special ops, his most high-stake missions, and less-than-successful assignments. An experienced team leader, Carr discusses his trials and triumphs in leadership and teamwork, and how to employ these traits when it’s a life or death (or at least difficult) situation. Carr also zeroes in on how to manage the most important team: a family, and illustrates how he managed to maintain his relationships, and stay close and connected when he was regularly on the road and his life was in constant danger.
