Biography

JaQuel Knight is a director, creative director, entrepreneur and critically acclaimed, award-winning celebrity choreographer known for creating some of the most memorable moments in dance and entertainment history. His rise to global recognition came at the age of 18 when he created the choreography for Beyoncé’s iconic “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” Since then, Knight has spent over a decade architecting the images of music’s brightest talents, all while creating opportunity for other artists.

Most recently, JaQuel directed and choreographed Megan Thee Stallion’s “Sound Bites” Special for GrubHub, as well as her Apple Music Awards performance film that designated her as Breakthrough Artist of the Year. The show-stopping, reverberating recognition of black culture was not only a cinematic exploration of Megan’s identity as an artist, but also a triumphant celebration of women everywhere - further actualizing Knight’s elevation as a visionary for the world’s biggest stars.

As a director, JaQuel has brought numerous other projects to the forefront including Pharrell’s John Lewis tribute piece for Oprah, Zara Larsson’s 2020 EMA performance, Jay Rock’s Pepsi Pre-Game performance at SoFi Stadium, and music videos and live performances for rising star Victoria Monét.

Since 2020, JaQuel has served as creative director for all things Megan Thee Stallion. First, he directed her electrifying performance for the 2020 BET Awards - which designated her as the industry’s newest it-girl and catapulted her into newfound stardom. Since then, he has brought his powerful visions to life for Megan’s groundbreaking debut SNL and American Music Awards performances, and most recently, for her iconic Grammys performance that saw her encapsulate everything classy, bougie, and ratchet.

As a choreographer and creative visionary, JaQuel has lent his creative expertise to culture-shifting projects such as Beyoncé’s “Black Is King” film for Disney+, the Shakira Super Bowl Halftime performance with Jennifer Lopez, and Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” video. Additionally, artists ranging from pop legends like Cher and Britney Spears, to singer-songwriter stars like The Chicks, Miley Cyrus, Pink, Zara Larsson, Victoria Monét and Ben Platt, to hip-hop powerhouses like Pharrell, N*E*R*D, Big Sean and Jay-Z all enlist the help of JaQuel to utilize his impeccable vision and ability to innovate groundbreaking concepts that the world has never seen before.

To cap off an incredibly busy 2020, JaQuel garnered the accolades of the prominent Billboard Magazine when the publication deemed him the first choreographer ever to make its cover. JaQuel has even more exciting directing projects underway: a major studio dance film co-produced by an A-List star, as well as several TV shows in development for JaQuel to star in and produce.

In 2013, JaQuel launched his own production company, JK Creatives, Inc. where he oversees artists, songwriters, and producers, and produces music videos & short films. JK Creatives houses its own media department, where Knight creates and develops content for TV, film, and digital - from scripted features to non-scripted series. In 2020, JaQuel also launched Knight Choreography and Music Publishing, where he and his manager work to ensure that choreographers receive royalties for their compositions, and generate opportunities for those movements to be performed and reproduced.

Born in North Carolina and raised in Atlanta, JaQuel currently resides in Los Angeles where he continues to develop and innovate creative ideas for the next generation of artists and beyond.
