Telling Stories That Stick: Connecting with GenZs and Millennials in an oversaturated marketplacearrow-down

If there’s a marketing buzzword that has seen its authenticity fade faster than all the others, it has got to be "authenticity" itself. Values-based storytelling and marketing have been the go-to approach for the last decade, but as brands have rushed to paint themselves as the most genuine and honest, younger consumers have pushed back.

As the Head of Research and Consumer Insight at BDG Media, Dr. Jessica Tarlov provides audiences with a guide to connecting with GenZs and Millennials rooted in custom research that swims against the traditional digital media current. Her focus on the importance of human connection over digital connectivity for GenZ and Millennials as well as their newfound reliance on instincts over institutions equips audiences with a fresh perspective to inform their consumer marketing strategies. These strategies go beyond the usual talk about “finding your company mission” and “authentically connecting” with your audiences. In this new landscape, brands are up against a much more discerning – and skeptical – consumer. And Jessica will show them how to crack the code.

Audience takeaways include:

1.     A deep understanding of the current GenZ and Millennial cultural zeitgeist

2.     How to take independent action that will inspire consumer loyalty

3.     How to utilize the strength of “everyday people” in meaningful marketing

4.     How to respond to brand safety crises

5.     A look at brands that are doing it right

The Great Progression: Insights into GenZ and Millennial Parentsarrow-down

The shift we’re seeing in family lifestyles due to the pandemic has arguably been the biggest social experiment since the advent of suburbia in the 1960s. Jessica Tarlov, Senior Vice President of Research and Consumer Insight for Bustle Digital Group, says parents have found themselves at the frontlines of what is being referred to as The Great Progression. From cutting back on work to dedicate more time to childcare to holding off on having another child to continuing remote learning even after schools have re-opened, parenting looks drastically different than ever before.

Based on a national study of GenZ and Millennial parents, Jessica details the dramatic shifts that have occurred, what we can expect to change moving forward, and the new “open book” approach to parenting that is making major waves. From these insights, she explains how organizations and brands can lean into the movement and create messaging that resonates with this new breed of parent.
