Michelle Hord is the former Vice President of Creative Content and Talent Management for NBCUniversal. In this role, she partnered on the launch of the corporate Women’s Initiative and worked to develop strategies to increase engagement, recruitment, and development of women at the company. In a prior role with NBCU as VP, Talent Acquisition and Campus Programs, Michelle developed and was responsible for recruiting across all of NBCUniversal and created the first corporate paid internship program.
Before joining NBCU, Michelle worked for more than fifteen years as a producer for a variety of shows such as America’s Most Wanted, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and the CBS News Investigative Unit at 48 Hours. As a senior producer for Good Morning America, Michelle served as a senior producer for Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts as well as show contributors such as Barbara Corcoran, Tory Johnson, and Mellody Hobson.
As a consultant, Michelle brings her 30 years of experience to clients in businesses as diverse as network studios, publishing houses, syndicated television shows, and fashion companies based in the US and abroad. She offers creative expertise from content creation, ideation, and on-air talent coaching and management. Michelle also consults with corporations focused on change/cultural management, D+I strategy, and talent management. Recent clients include Warner Media, Univision, CBS Studios, Moet Hennessey USA, and “When We All Vote.” Michelle’s extensive television writing and producing expertise coupled with her talent management, executive coaching, and change management experience combine to offer organizations the best ideas to support them both at “30,000 feet” and at the “Ground Level.”
In late 2017, Michelle founded Gabrielle’s Wings in honor of her daughter Gabrielle Eileen, who died tragically at the age of seven. Gabrielle’s Wings serves a global community of elementary-aged children from underserved communities through educational, recreational, and cultural engagement. To date, the fund has allocated more than $300,000 to projects with partners on three continents. Gabrielle’s Wings recently launched “Gabrielle’s Book Club” to connect children virtually during COVID with books about inclusion. The fund has partnered with organizations such as the YMCA of Greater Seattle, Jack and Jill of America, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Family Services of Westchester, Believers World Outreach, and My Brother’s Keeper. More than 10,000 children on three continents have been touched by Gabrielle’s Wings so far. Gabrielle’s Wings is a non-profit fund affiliated with The Hord Foundation, Inc., and The Westchester Community Foundation.
Her upcoming memoir The Other Side of Yet highlights resilience, hope, and faith in the midst of our darkest hours. After experiencing the devastating loss of her daughter, Michelle's message is about creating a life of purpose, passion, and possibility regardless of what is thrown at us and finding the tools to reclaim your story.
