His reporting appears across all platforms of NBC News and MSNBC including “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,” TODAY, “Meet the Press,” and NBC News Now.
Alexander’s challenging questions of President Biden regularly make national headlines and his compelling coverage of the President’s controversial trip to Saudi Arabia earned praise when Alexander questioned Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Alexander led coverage as Donald Trump became the first American president in history to be impeached twice. During his decade covering the White House and Washington, he reported extensively on four Supreme Court confirmations, three presidential campaigns, and the historic COVID-19 pandemic, pressing then-President Trump about his administration’s response to the crisis. Throughout the Trump administration, Alexander’s reporting was often cited by other outlets, including his real-time fact-check of President Trump at his first press conference in office.
In 2021, Alexander sat down exclusively with Doug Emhoff in his first one-on-one interview as Second Gentleman. During the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, Alexander booked an exclusive, news-making interview with White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump.
Alexander was assigned to cover the White House for NBC News in 2012 after leading the network’s coverage of the 2012 Republican presidential race, reporting from the trail on GOP nominee Mitt Romney through Election Day. He interviewed then-Cuban president Fidel Castro during Hurricane Ivan, as the then-Category 5 storm barreled toward the country in 2005.

He has flown with the Thunderbirds, pulling nearly 9G’s aboard an F-16, traveled through the Arctic and explored the Galapagos Islands.
Alexander regularly reports on the deeply personal story of his sister Rebecca, who has Usher Syndrome, type III — a rare genetic disorder robbing her of her vision and her hearing.
Before NBC News, Alexander worked as the lead reporter and substitute evening anchor at KCPQ-TV in Seattle, Wash. During the 2000 presidential campaign and election, Alexander interviewed President George W. Bush, former Vice President Al Gore, and Sen. John McCain. Prior to KCPQ-TV, Alexander worked at KHQ-TV in Spokane, Wash., and WKYT-TV in Lexington, Ky.
