Actress, Netflix's Unorthodox and Shtisel
Rising star Shira Haas was recently nominated for Golden Globe and Emmy awards for her role as Esty in Netflix’s hugely popular mini-series UNORTHODOX, which was released in 2020. For a performance receiving flawless reviews across the board, The New York Times called Haas "a phenomenon, expressive and captivating" and Vulture said "Haas gives an extraordinary performance here, evoking fear, grief, and a mix of both naïveté and wonder...."
Haas will soon go into production on the highly anticipated limited series "Lioness." Produced by Barbara Streisand, Nina Tassler and Denise Di Novi, the highly-anticipated series tells the story of Golda Meir, and her rise to becoming Israel's prime minister.
This June, she will be seen as the star of ASIA, an Israeli feature for which she recently won an Ophir (the Israeli Academy Award) for Best Supporting actress award as well as Best Actress in an International Narrative Feature at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival.
Haas currently stars in the standout role of Ruchami on the international hit series SHTISEL, which just returned to Netflix for a third season. Additional television credits include the Israeli series HARMON and THE CONDUCTOR.
On the big screen, Haas co-starred opposite Jessica Chastain in Niki Caro’s 2017 film THE ZOOKEEPER’S WIFE and appeared in Natalie Portman’s A TALE OF LOVE AND DARKNESS. Haas made her feature film debut in the emotionally complex drama PRINCESS, which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film festival. For her performance she was nominated for Best Actress at that year's Ophir Awards. Haas later received Ophir Award nominations her roles in BROKEN MIRRORS and the Oscar-nominated Israeli film FOXTROT. She then won for her role in NOBLE SAVAGE.
