Tonya Mosley is an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, writer, and documentarian. She co-hosts NPR’s long-form interview show Fresh Air, the award-winning podcast Truth Be Told, and the acclaimed audio documentary She Has a Name. Tonya has interviewed heads of state, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, as well as artists, celebrities, and authors. Previously, Tonya was the co-host of NPR’s midday program Here & Now, where she led daily coverage during the Trump administration, the pandemic, and the racial reckoning of 2021. On January 6, 2021, she hosted live NPR special coverage of the insurrection as it was happening. She also guided listeners through special live coverage of the Donald Trump impeachment hearings and the funeral of Congressman John Lewis. For more than a decade, Tonya served as an award-winning television producer, reporter, correspondent, and anchor for several outlets, including Al Jazeera America. Tonya has won several awards for her journalism, including two Webby Awards for Best Documentary and Best Advice Podcasts, an Emmy Award for her PBS series Beyond Ferguson, and an Edward R. Murrow Award and NABJ Award for the four-part hour-long series Black in Seattle.
Tonya was awarded the John S. Knight Fellowship at Stanford University, where she co-created a curriculum for journalists on the implications of implicit bias. She is a graduate of The Partnership Leadership Program.
