Joanna Hausmann is a Venezuelan-American writer and actor who gained popularity through her videos on YouTube which discuss culture, history and challenge Hispanic stereotypes. With 70 million views on her digital series “Joanna Rants,” Hausmann was cast as a correspondent on the Netflix original series, BILL NYE SAVES THE WORLD. She has had success in the voice-over world voicing the alien villain on the Disney series, MILO MURPHY’S LAW, a bilingual character in Pixar’s upcoming TV spin-off of MONSTER’S INC and she is also a cast member of the new CBS animated show HARPER HOUSE. Last year, she was a writer on the Stephen Colbert-produced pilot for CBS All-Access, OLD NEWS. Having published articles for the New York Times and the BBC, she is currently a professor at the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism where she lectures about satire and comedy’s role in the news. Joanna has given speeches at events including The Olso Freedom Forum, Univision’s Upfronts, Ford’s Hispanic Heritage Gala, YouTube HQ and at Universities including U.F and The New School. Her comedic but informative talks (in both English and Spanish) range from tips on marketing to the Hispanics, to storytelling from a bicultural perspective, to how satire and comedy impact society.
