Analyst, ESPN's College GameDay
Since 1995, Kirk has been a college football analyst for ESPN/ABC. In 1996, he joined Chris Fowler and co-analyst Lee Corso on ESPN’s College Gameday program, making 2025 Kirk's 30th season on this popular Emmy Award-winning studio show. Since 2006, Kirk has been the game analyst for ABC’s Saturday Night Prime Time broadcast.
Kirk has won 14 Sports Emmy Awards, including Best Studio Analyst, Best Game Analyst, and Best Studio Show. Kirk has also called 15 National Championship games and 16 Rose Bowls, more than any other college football analyst.
Beyond college football, Herbstreit called a pair of NFL games with Chris Fowler for ESPN during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, and in 2022 he teamed with Al Michaels for the inaugural season of Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football games and will continue in 2024 for his 3rd season on Amazon Prime.
Widely respected for his detailed analysis and thoughtful perspective, Herbstreit is also a frequent contributor to SportsCenter, ESPN’s weekly CFP rankings show, ESPN and ABC’s annual NFL Draft presentation, and more.
Kirk is a 1993 graduate of The Ohio State University. Kirk is a former OSU quarterback and was the team captain for the 1992 season.
